When discussing treatment plans, make sure your doctor knows you are a professional driver.

Keeping your blood sugar as close to normal as possible helps you feel better and reduces the risk of long-term complications of diabetes, such as:

Nerve damage,

Eye damage (Diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness),

Kidney damage,

Blood vessel damage.

Medication and diet changes can help prevent or delay the start of diabetes complications.

Medications for Drivers

Speak with your doctor about the medication treatment plans that will benefit your specific type of diabetes.

Professional drivers not dependent on insulin injections can be certified.

Your doctor may be able to prescribe oral medications that will help you manage your diabetes, taking into consideration your job and lifestyle.

A Healthier Lifestyle

Lifestyle changes, including better nutrition and increased exercise can greatly benefit diabetes patients.

Diabetes if not treated at an early stage will be a killer. For diabetes my opinion is that prevention is always better than cure. However the different types of diabetes will have different cures depending on the person. It is always better to consult your physician and adopt proper medication to cure diabetes. However a healthier lifestyle and healthier food consumption will go a long way in curing this condition.
